Tickets and times for Stanmer House this Sunday

    Friday, July 3rd, 2009

It’s just a few days away and the current forecast is sunny! The doors open at 7:45pm, but I’d recommend getting down there early and spending the afternoon in the beautiful surroundings with a barbecue and a few cold beers.

    Here are the times:

    Marquee

    The Leisure Society 11:10pm
    Peggy Sue 10:00pm
Sons of Noel and Adrian 8:55pm
    Robert Stillman 7:55pm

    Inside the house

    Alessi’s Ark 10:35pm
    Pete Roe 9:30pm
    Caroline Weeks 8:25pm

Here’s a link showing the bus route from the Old Steine, you get the number 25 and it takes about 38 minutes including the walk into Stanmer Park. There are regular trains to Falmer from Brighton and it’s about a 10-15 minute walk from there. Sadly the last train back to Brighton from Falmer is at 23:26 but I believe buses run all night, a taxi will cost about £10-12.

Resident is now SOLD OUT but there are currently 16 tickets left on wegottickets.com/willkommen, then we’re totally sold out. I’ll post on here if there are any tickets left on the day but it looks unlikely.

Another Stanmer House addition! Robert Stillman

    Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The overflowing Stanmer House lineup has a new addition. Recently seen playing keys with Grizzly Bear, Robert Stillman‘s own music exists “somewhere between the fairground, the rural parlor, and the stars” and is influenced by the likes of John Fahey, Kurt Weill, Scott Joplin, and Maurice Ravel.

The lineup also includes The Leisure Society, Alessi’s Ark, Peggy Sue, Sons of Noel and Adrian, Laura Marling’s pianist and banjo player Pete Roe and Caroline Weeks of Bat for Lashes. The event takes place in Grade I listed stately home Stanmer House on Sunday July 5th, tickets cost just £12 from wegottickets.com or Resident Records, 28 Kensington Gardens, Brighton, 01273 606312.

Pete Roe joins Stanmer House line-up

    Thursday, June 11th, 2009

The enthralling Pete Roe joins The Leisure Society, Alessi’s Ark et al on our overflowing Willkommen micro-festival bill. Pete is an amazing multi-instrumentalist who plays banjo and piano with Laura Marling, guitar techs for Maccabees and recently toured in support of Mumford & Sons. He has a unique guitar style which somehow sees separate bass, rhythm, lead and even percussions lines simultaneously flow from just two hands.

He’s an amazing performer and a great addition to the line-up. More information about the event here and tickets available for just £12 here.

Caroline Weeks added to Stanmer House bill

    Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

We are delighted to announce that Willkommen favourite Caroline Weeks has joined the lineup for our exciting Stanmer House show. She joins The Leisure Society, Alessi’s Ark, Peggy Sue and Sons of Noel and Adrian in what is shaping up to be the best gig we’ve ever put on. Caroline Weeks is an extremely talented singer songwriter and some time member of Bat For Lashes, with whom she recently toured France. This is a special appearance ahead of her tour of America. There are more acts still to be announced.

Over half the tickets have already flown out of the door so buy quickly. You can get them from wegottickets.com here or from Resident Records in Kensington Gardens, Brighton, 01273 606312.

New venue! Willkommen take over Stanmer House, not Charleston House

    Monday, June 1st, 2009
    Stanmer House by night

    Stanmer House by night

The good news is we’ve found a new venue for our event in July and tickets are on sale here

The event features a ridiculously good lineup including The Leisure Society, Alessi’s Ark, Peggy Sue and Sons of Noel and Adrian. Originally at Charleston House, this event has now moved to the even more suitable Stanmer House – with one big benefit. We can now have a second performance area so we’ll be announcing many more acts ASAP.

The house was built in 1722 and is in the middle of a Sussex nature reserve, but also just a 5-10 minute walk from Falmer train station or University of Sussex bus stops.

More details about this exciting event can be found here. Please help support Willkommen by buying tickets as soon as possible, as an event of this size is costing us a lot to run. Thank you so much to everyone who has emailed over the last week voicing their support and suggesting alternative venues.
