Then on Saturday Rachael Dadd is playing at the annual Apple festival at Middle Farm near Lewes. Rachael plays at midday and then you can tuck in to the cider for a few hours.
As if that were not enough, Mary Hampton is launching her exceptional album Folly in London on Sunday at Cecil Sharp House. The Brighton launch show was phenomenal so don’t miss this – plus you get Rachael Dadd supporting. You can hear the debut single from the album using the embedded YouTube video above.
Alessi’s new album is out today in America. The album features contributions from lots of Willkommen musicians. My personal highlight is a track called The Fever which is an instrumental trio of Alessi on guitar, William Calderbank (Sons, Miserable Rich etc) on piano and Emma Gatrill (Sons, Mariners etc) on the harp.
Alessi has two dates left in America supporting Laura Marling before a few European dates:
27th Sept: WASHINGTON DC, MY: Sixth & I Historic Synagogue with Laura Marling 28th Sept: NEW YORK, NY: Webster Hall with Laura Marling 3rd Oct: Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS: Paradiso – Small Hall 4th Oct: Ghent, BELGIUM: Café Video 5th Oct: Brussels, BELGIUM: Witloof Bar @ Botanique 7th Oct: Paris, FRANCE: La Fleche D’Or Paris, Ile-de-France
A new photo exhibition, “After The Thaw” presents a unique and stimulating insight into the lives of people living in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia and Tajikistan. When these countries gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the attention of the world briefly focused upon this cluster of new nations. The prospect of democracy seemed to offer a genuine opportunity for a future of peace and prosperity. Two decades on, away from the media spotlight, millions of people continue to struggle to build a livelihood in a post-communist world.
