New venue! Willkommen take over Stanmer House, not Charleston House

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Stanmer House by night

Stanmer House by night

The good news is we’ve found a new venue for our event in July and tickets are on sale here

The event features a ridiculously good lineup including The Leisure Society, Alessi’s Ark, Peggy Sue and Sons of Noel and Adrian. Originally at Charleston House, this event has now moved to the even more suitable Stanmer House – with one big benefit. We can now have a second performance area so we’ll be announcing many more acts ASAP.

The house was built in 1722 and is in the middle of a Sussex nature reserve, but also just a 5-10 minute walk from Falmer train station or University of Sussex bus stops.

More details about this exciting event can be found here. Please help support Willkommen by buying tickets as soon as possible, as an event of this size is costing us a lot to run. Thank you so much to everyone who has emailed over the last week voicing their support and suggesting alternative venues.

Tickets now on sale for the Willkommen daytrip to Charleston House featuring The Leisure Society, Peggy Sue, Alessi’s Ark and Sons of Noel and Adrian

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

We’ve been inundated with emails asking where they can buy tickets for this very exciting event on Sunday July 5th. Charleston are now taking bookings on their box office number, 01323 811626 (EDIT: sadly we can no longer do this event at Charleston, we are currently confirming a similarly special venue and will update ASAP) . Online booking should be available in the next few days.

The capacity is strictly limited and we expect it to sell out very quickly. The event will see bands performing in the beautiful Charleston barns and we should have a few impromptu acoustic solo sets around the gardens.

Charleston House was the artistic hub of the Bloomsbury Group – Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, J.M. Keynes and many more. As the Willkommen Collective is also a group of like-minded creative people centred around the beautiful Sussex downs, we’re very excited and honoured to be playing in the Bloomsbury Group’s uniquely wonderful home.

The Leisure Society play Communion, Hanbury Ballrooms, Brighton this bank holiday Sunday

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

After their packed performances at The Great Escape and Brighton Festival, The Leisure Society return to Brighton to play Communion. It’s a great club that finds its home at Notting Hill Arts Club but has recently been on a summer holiday by the sea. Also playing are Josh Weller and The Mariner’s Children – who are totally unmissable. Tickets available at Resident or on the door. More details on the Communion II facebook event.

The Miserable Rich added to the Willkommen Union Chapel show

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

The Miserable Rich join the fantastic lineup for our special show at The Union Chapel on June 12th – including The Leisure Society, Shoreline, Sons of Noel and Adrian, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, Laish, Rowan Coupland and Kopek.

On top of the surplus of amazing music, the whole chapel will be decorated like a forest and there will be plenty of surprises. Tickets are available here.

We’ll also soon be announcing further details and putting tickets on sale for two other very special “Willkommen takeover…” events this summer, at Charleston House and De La Warr Pavilion in Sussex.
