Supports confirmed for Pete Roe on June 8th: The Moulettes and Tristram

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

The fantastic Pete Roe is coming to Brighton on June 8th. Anyone who saw his performance with Shoreline and Mumford & Sons at Komedia last year or at our Stanmer House show will know how great he is live.

We’re very pleased to announce two unmissable supports. First up will be Tristram, a charming and effortlessly catchy four piece featuring Becca “Ubiquitous” Mears on the cello (The Mariner’s Children, Kristin McClement, Peggy Sue, Sons of Noel and Adrian). They just released their first EP “Someone Told Me A Poem” is out on the 22nd of february, 2010 on Oh, Invenrted World Music.

Then main support comes from The Moulettes, a folk-stomping barn-storming swingin’ quartet lead by singer-cellist Hannah Miller.

Pete Roe’s band also features a female cellist. This is a coincidence, we’re not starting to theme our nights.

The event takes place on June 8th at Komedia. Tickets are £6.50 adv. See you there! You can buy tickets here and see the facebook event here.

Willkommen bands at The Great Escape – Sons of Noel and Adrian, The Leisure Society, The Miserable Rich and many more

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

So the Great Escape descends on Brighton today. This is the first time the Willkommen Collective have been properly represented, with live performances from The Leisure Society, Sons of Noel and Adrian, The Miserable Rich, Curly Hair, Laish and our good friends Alessi’s Ark and Peggy Sue.

Sons of Noel and Adrian, Peggy Sue and Alessi’s Ark play at The Duke of Yorks on Friday 14th May. Founded in 1910, it is the oldest working cinema in the UK and a wonderful place to see live music.  This is a late show starting at 11pm. Entrance is free for Great Escape wristband holders but you can also buy a separate ticket for just this show for £8 from Resident, Rounder, Ticketweb or on the door.

The Leisure Society play upstairs at the Komedia on Saturday 15th at 9pm. This will be rammed so get there early.

Laish and Curly Hair play with Foxes and The Hornblower Brothers from midday to 4:30pm at the Pavilion Tavern on the Saturday, and The Miserable Rich play at Shipwright’s Yard on Friday at the Skint/ Republic of Music showcase, between 1 and 5pm.

Alessi is also playing at 8pm at Revenge on Saturday. That’s with Anna Calvi who is well worth seeing live. Peggy Sue also play at 9:45pm on the Friday at Life, with the wonderful Sky Larkin. We would also recommend seeing Polar Bear on Friday at Komedia, Seun Kuti at the Dome on Friday, Bo Ningen on Thursday at The Hope and Trembling Bells at the Pavilion Theare on Saturday.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

We’re very pleased to announce that The Climbers will launch their debut album, The Good Ship, on a very good ship. Tamesis Dock is a converted, loveable, 1933 Dutch barge moored on the Thames between Vauxhall and Lambeth Bridge. It’s also a wonderful live music venue, especially during summer.

Tickets are priced at just £6 and are available at TicketWeb now. This will be the band’s first ever full live show. The album is released just two days before on Monday May 31st and is astounding. Exciting supports to be announced.
